Is he really playing the major comic book baddie?
The biggest Marvel Cinematic Universe news of the week was that there will be no movies in the franchise releasing this year as multiple films have been pushed back. The second biggest was that rising star Jonathan Majors has been cast in the third Ant-Man movie, and possibly as a major comic villain.
The actor, who was in Lovecraft Country, is reportedly going to be playing the character Kang the Conqueror, who has a…. complicated history. In short, he’s a time-traveller who always pops up to mess with various heroes and often fights the entire Avengers team.
With Ant-Man being the one who leads to the time travel shenanigans in Avengers: Endgame, we can see how he’d fit in. But is that actually who he is playing?
Jimmy Fallon tried to get the actor to spill the beans on his chat show, bringing up the rumours and asking if they were true… but Majors was giving nothing away.
“I heard the same thing, bro,” the star said. “I heard the same thing. It was like, ‘what what what?!’
“So, you know, we apparently have the same source, ’cause I heard it too.”
So what do we think, kids? If the rumour wasn’t true then he’d surely deny it. Or is he letting the rumour continue in order to take attention away from who he is actually playing?
As well as Lovecraft Country, Jonathan Majors has appeared in When We Rise and Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, which also starred the late Chadwick Boseman.
